Joe Mathews, syndicated columnist, Innovation Editor at Zocalo Public Square, and a board member of the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy discussed and answered questions about direct democracy reforms, a potential California Constitution Convention, and more.. He is also co-author of the book California Crackup: How Reform Broke the Golden State and How We Can Fix It.

Michele Young, Senior Management Analyst for Recycling and Waste Reduction in Santa Clara County, will discuss how our towns and cities and businesses are tackling the challenge of handling recycled organic waste. What happens to the food you throw away? She spoke to our League on April 21.

Otto Lee, the Santa Clara County Supervisor for District 3, describes how our County plans to expand efforts and programs to help people struggling with mental and behavioral health. He also answered other questions about county issues on housing, jails, and more.

Judge LaDoris H. Cordell is recognized in our community as a Municipal and Superior Court Judge and has also served in other roles in our county. In October 2021, her book "Her Honor" was published to much acclaim. She describes her life on the bench and the reforms she recommends to improve our court system. We interviewed her on January 20. The next day she was interviewed by KQED Newshour (skip to 5:38).
